Transmission Pan gasket won't seal 700 1989

I've replaced the pan gasket on my transmission but can't get the new one to seal. I've cleaned both sides carefully, ordered a second new gasket ($3 at NAPA why not) and still get a leak on the side opposite where the dip stick tube enters. I've losened / tightened, the nuts trying to get it but every time it's in the same place. We are talking a fairly rapid drip, drip, drip. easly to spot when I fill the transmission case. Will the heat of running the car help it to seal or can I use a gasket making product to try?. Any advice is appreciated.
