any advice for a gas tank leak on a 1990 240 DL? 200 1990

It own a 1990 240DL wagon with about 112K on it. It has been an all season driver in upstate New York and is in pretty good shape. But it seems to have sprung a leak in the gas tank. I can see some gas leaking over the rear seam of the tank on the driver's side. It leaks enough that there is a small spot on the floor under the tank where it is parked.

Do any of you have expeience with the same problem?

My worst fear is that the tank has rusted out. My hope is that maybe it is leaking where someting connects to it but I doubt that is the case.

I guess I will need to drop the tank to see where the leak is.

Once I find the leak, I will have to decide if I can patch it or not. I may try expoxy if it does not look too bad.

Any advice will be appreciated.
