top strut nut torqued to 100 plus ft-lbs.....HELP!!!! 200

I'm trying to get my top strut nuts removed. The guy who had the car before me had cheap monroe struts put in and the bozo torqued the things to way over 100 ft-lbs.

I've got the IPD strut nut removal tool and I was using an adjustable wrench to hold the shaft so it won't turn.

My friend took hold of one, I the other, and we actually wound up fracturing the adjustable wrench - and the nut still won't budge!!!

It was actually kinda funny...we heard a crack! and we thought we finally cracked the nut loose but it wound up being a fracture in the adjustable wrench.

I'm 200lbs and he's 165lbs and we wound up fracturing the damn adjustable wrench. That's how much force we were using and the nut's still yet to move.

I tried spraying to PB Blaster on both nuts but that didn't do anything either.

I took one strut out from under the fender and put the coil spring compressors on the coils in an attempt to losen up any pressure on the top mount/top nut but that didn't help. In fact, it's much harder now trying to losen the nut since the whole assembly's resting at a weird angle and on top of my floor jack.

I'm afraid I'm going to have to put everything back together and take it to a shop and pay somebody to do this but that's not what I'd like to do.

Can anybody PLEASE help me here????

Jay
