Volvo Cure for Noisy Fuel Pump? 200

My son and I both have 81's with noisy main fuel pumps. In Bentley (page 230-10) a "fuel pressure damper" is mentioned as a Volvo remedy to resolve complaints of fuel pump noise. It is a small contraption about 1 1/2 inches across that mounts in the main fuel pump inlet hose about two inches from the pump. I've seen lots of posts on the BB about noisy fuel pumps, but I don't remember seeing any about this fuel pressure damper (Volvo part 1389725-1). Has anyone had experience with this?
