Volt gauge reading is really high...radio & light strangeness 200

driving today the radio would cut out when
i put on the brakes or used the turn signal
turned on the light s, etc... and the volt gauge
needle would jump really quick with the different
readings...not smooth needle movement like
normally...then it went into the red...i pulled over
and stopped the engine..then it worked normal...

any ideas on this kind of thing?

i replaced the voltage regulator 4 weeks ago
with a new bosch unit ('cause my brushes were really
worn short) and the new part didnt have the little
ceramic thing (capsitor?) but other wise was the same...

thanks,

~phil
