Greetings, Bricksters, and Happy New Year!!
In the hope that it might save someone else's buns (literally!) I wanted to relay what happened to me yesterday while driving in New England...
Cold snowy morning, so I flipped the seat warmer switch to ON while driving towards Boston... started feeling it getting warmer... AHHH... but then it seems to be getting REALLY warm, making me a bit uncomfortable, as it seemed to be getting very hot in a very localized area of my seat... just as I am about to shut it off because it was 'frying' me, I smelled smoke! My butt was on fire! I flipped the switch off and quickly put it out, but not before it had burnt a 3/8" hole in my nice driver side seat cushion!
Just a caution to anyone else who might be experiencing a similar situation as my seat did kind of 'warn' me the past few times I used it with a pretty hot seat where the the hot part was more localized that it used to be.
Is this due to some of the seat heater wires having broken and putting most of the current through only a few remaining wires?
Whatever, looks like I'll have to not only repair the seat heater but also find a new bottom seat cover.
But, most of all, I'm thankful that my car did not catch on fire! I'm going to get a fire extingusher today to keep in the trunk.
Best Wishes to all Bricksters for a Happy, Healthy, and Prosperous New Year !!
Regards,
TomD
