Parts that are exchangeable on 73-74 144 with a 71 142 140-160

Well, I've just finished putting doors from a '75 242 onto my '71 142E, customised to have the old style door handles though. And the car I did for my sister (a '72 144E) has doors from an '83 245. :) Most panels like that are the same. The thing I ran into on her car is that the door latches were differant so I had to graft the ones from the 240 shell into her door posts. But all the body panels on the 140's are fairly interchangeable. The only thing you'll run into is that the holes for the marker lights are differant on the front fender. There is also a differance in wheel arch hieght from the '67-'70 fenders and '71-'74 front fenders, the later ones offering more wheel clearance. Pretty much anything else that looks the same as far as the mechanicals usually is the same. Volvo engineers were never much for changing things they didn't have to. Of course, two door doors have to go onto a two door, and 4 door doors can only fit on 4 doors and what not, but you knew that. :)
