Master cylinder question. 200

So just 5 months ago, I replaced the MC in the 240 with one from a local auto store (1yr warranty included). Now I see it is leaking. if you are looking at it from the side and the res on top is sitting in it (as it should be), the rear seal that the res pops into, is leaking. When I push down on the back of the res. it forces some fluid out.

I bled the brakes manually, bled the MC on the car, manually again. No power pressure bleeds.

WTF? did i do something wrong? this just started up about a month ago as I started noticing the brakes feeling spongy, now I found the culprit.

can anyone advise me if I did something wrong or If it was a faulty part to begin with?

Thanks
Chuck
