Ignition Trouble shooting...Comments and verification Please

Hi all
So my 84 240 NA quit starting finally
no tach jump so I started in on the ignition system...

I rang the wiring harness out and found no opens,
no shorts to ground or +12v except where expected
I have key-on power to the coil and the ICU

This leads me to suspect the ICU or the Impulse Sender(Distro)
are bad... is there a way to trouble shoot the impulse sender?

Now the questions...
1) Ballast resistor, where would this be if there is one?
2) What should I expect to see for coil resistance?
3) The (grey) wire from the ICU to the Coil and thence to the
FI brain is shielded...Where should ths be grounded?

Coments please
Thanks
Miguel
