ZF questions 700 1989

Hi again

I've posted this problem some while ago but didn't get any replies. Hoping I'll be lucky this time and some ZF guru will be reading this

My ZF has about 230 000 km on it. Of lately it clunks when downshifting and shifts hard from 1st to 2nd and sometimes to 3rd. These symptoms however seems to vary with the speed and temp. Sometimes it works smoothly.

I've heard that in a AW it could be a valve body problem, wondering if the ZF has a similar issue. Fluid is clean and been draining the pan regularly bout every 6000 km.
