Replacing tie rods on a ZF rack 200 1984

I bought the replacement tie rod and inner tie rod end assembly for a ZF box for my '84 240 today. Unlike the rods for the CAM rack on my son's car, there's no lock washer with this -- does the ZF rack not use anything to lock the tie rod to the rack, or is there some locking arrangement that I can re-use (it's winter, and I want to crawl under just once, so I haven't looked under the car)? Should I use some kind of Loctite on it? Any advice welcomed.
