I have an '81 GLT with about 550 000 km on it. I purchased it 2 years ago (2002) from a relative for 650 bucks canadian. The thing is running fine. My question is this: is body work worth doing on these guys? I spent 500 bucks on the exhaust a few months ago and now i just spent 450 fixing a suspension problem. My 2 rear quarter panels are rusted and I want to know if i should cut my losses and keep driving it or fix all the little things.
Here is the short list of "little things" i am aware of:
Manual Tranny OD doesnt work. light comes on. solenoid sounds no effect
engine mount wearing out left side
front seats in rough shape
rust on doors (not on sills)
sunroof wont shut tight easily
needs paint (i dont care my self)
among others.
I am trying to put values on these things because I am a student and financing a 95 jetta or something is beginning to look cheaper than my volvo
