kick down cable problem.... 200 1992

Hello all -

I was driving home today in my 1992 240 wagon-- my normal 37 mile commute....when all of a sudden at 60 mph, the gas pedal just went limp and I was stuck in 4th or 5th gear...

I was not sure what the problem was..so I applied the brakes and eventually slowed down. I pulled over stopped the car and looked at the kick down cable...which I just recently got replaced..a few months ago...and the cable was off of the pulley.

So I put the cable back on teh pulley and I was all set again. Before I drive it again..is there anything I should do? It is extremely cold here currently (single digits) and not sure if that was a factor in why this happened?

Any suggestions....I thought about spraying some WD-40 on the cable..but do nto want to make anything worse..

thanks dpdy
