You'd get the lockup whenever the trans shifts into overdrive, if it's like others I've driven.

Seems to me that a shop owner said once that the trans type is cast into the side of the housing. Take a look the next time you're under the car.

I've got a 1992 and it does not have a lockup. I can tell when I'm in OD on a smooth road--when I goose the pedal, the engine speeds up before the car does. Hope you got a better deal--the lockup would probably improve highway mileage a lot.
