Whining noise 200 1988

It's been near 0*F mornings in northern NJ for the past two days
or so, and when I drive my '88 245, it makes a noise that
varies with road (not engine) speed and load for the first
few minutes. The noise is a light metallic scraping whine. What do
y'all think - driveshaft center bearing, maybe?
.
Don't even get me started on the windshield fluid that a gas
station put in turning into a blue slurpee in the tank...
Fortunately, the tank is trivial to remove and wash out with
hot water...
.
OTOH, the car idles much more smoothly now that it has the correct
92*C thermostat.
.
-b.
