Yup, another misfiring 760 thread. 700 1987

Well, I am finally getting some electrical problems. I thought I would be immune for some reason.

I drive my 760 about 100-150 miles per day. The car starts fine and runs without a problem for the first hour or so. Then, the tach will start wildly swinging and the car will start to misfire. This also occurs after my first stop if it is an hour or so into my day. Occasionally this gets severe and I slow right down but usually I can ride through it with the car bucking and surging.

I hear a lot of 'coughing and spitting' from the exhaust.

I assume it is on the primary side since the tach is affected.

I have read the FAQs and have some ideas. I was hoping someone had exactly the same problem at some time in their Volvo experience.

Thanks guys.
