We have a 92 960 wagon. When we purchased it, it had the factory AM/FM tape. I purchased a CD/MP3 unit and install kit from Crutchfield and am very satisfied. You will find that it is almost mandatory to buy a wiring diagram and not one of the generic ones either! I found a factory diagram on eBay and it is a life saver!. The factory radio connections all go out to a amp under the bolster on the drivers side. The only direct connection from the radio is to the 2 top front speakers (dash) which don't get amplified since they are so small. My advise is forget about the whole factory radio crap and buy a good radio from wherever..Circuit City, eBay, Best Buy,etc. And buy 4 good door speakers and 2 tweeters to replace the dash speakers. The only way i was able to get nice bass response out of our car was to install a small amplified bass tube behind the rear seat and just disconnect it and remove it if it ever got in the way due to luggage, groceries, kids, etc.... If you do decide to go the aftermarket route, look for a unit that has a output for a power antenna. If you don't get that option, and mine doesn't have, you will need to wire the A+ going to the ant(coming out of the factory radio) to the switched B+ going to the new radio. The ant will go up whenever you turn the car on but the ant switch on the dash will still operate and you can lower it that way. Good Luck!
