Wiper Problem - very noisey 200

Hope someone can help me out with this one. Been experiencing some cold weather here on the east coast and noticed an incredible grinding like noise when I use the wipers. This noise usually goes away after the wipers (or motor, or linkage) "warm up." Now, the temp has been below zero and the noise is getting worse and I'm afraid to let them "warm up". I'm afraid that damage to whatever is amiss is occurring.

Any ideas? Motor? Linkage? Other?

P.S. I have 330,000 miles; 1991 240
