Ignition problems are back after all! 200 1983

My erratic ignition problems are back. Summary to date: car runs fine for a while; then RPMs drop suddenly, spring back up, and car dies. Car won't start. Car rests a while, car starts. Sometimes, wiggling various wires (1 and 15 on coil; wire from coil to distributor, spark plug wires) will immediately fix. The wire to I believe terminal 15 on the coil has been bare; it is now taped. The area past the tape, where it goes into the tape-like conduit for other wires as well seems to be in bad shape.

Things I've done: new dist. cap, new rotor, new spark plug wires, new ignition coil. Things I've not done: replace Hall sender (don't want to mess with ignition timing due to lack of tools and know how); check and replace fuel relays under dash.

What recommendations on what to do next? I fear, based on what I've seen with the insulation on the wire to the coil, that I'm about to buy a harness; is that the ignition wiring harness or the engine wiring harness? Should I do them both if I do either?
