Got pump out.... 900 1991

Now trying to get it back in! Ended up getting a pair of vice grips on the end of the screw end and twisting it apart. Played with pump assy for 30 min- 1 hour, struggling, squrming, cursing, etc, still not back in. There is a v mark on the surface to line up with the tank seam, but still tough to do with the rubber gasket, small hole to work in, blah, blah blah. Had to quit, looks like when I get back to it I will try the string trick to compress it. Doesn't compress that much, though. Unhappy to say the pump looks good- bellows hose looks almost new, had a black nylon filter sock on that I replaced. Didn't have crud on it, but air didn't seem to go through it as easy as the new one. Motor coil has resistance, and moves freely. If I EVER get the pump back in and buttoned up, it's on to the main pump again. BTW, since I don't have a fitting on my fuel rail to hook a gauge to, do I connect it to the rubber hose that feeds the fuel rail?

Thanks for the help guys!

Bob
