The first geo metro question on the brickboard!!!

I agree wholeheartedly.

The Geo Metro/Suzuki Swift/Chevy Sprint are a structural abomination designed for narrow Tokyo alleyways, not for Interstates to be shared with large SUV's and transport trucks. I can't tell you how many of those cars I have seen that have just been utterly flattened in minor accidents resulting in serious injuries to the occupants.

The Victoria Order of Nurses up here in Canada bought a fleet of them (3000 plus copies) back in the early 90's because they were cheap and offered excellent fuel economy. They subsequently suffered the shortest service life ever of any vehicle they had on fleet previously. What did it in for them was the super-thin bodies that went from slight surface rust to desintigration in one winter.

I can also remember a review of the convertible model when it came out. Ted Laturnus (a very well respected auto journalist up here) can be quoted as saying the car was unfit for Canadian roads.

Dump the car for 1000 bucks and get her a brick.
