Struts and shocks on a '94 945 Abnormally Aspirated. 900

I was out in the 940 wagon this evening and just driving it seems to be just a tad on the mushy side. The car has 88K on it and I don't think that the struts and shocks (if it has 'em on the rear) have been replaced. I noticed some of the guys talking about strut cartridges for sale on FCPGroton. Are these to your basic satisfaction, and if the rears are shocks, what brands do people recommned to restore the new car ride? How long does the original equipment typically last before needs replacement?

Thanks,

JB
