Spent the good part of a week working on and off replacing the blower motor in my 91 245, ripping out all the seats and carpet and cleaning them, and while I was in there I installed my new toy. That toy was a Crimestopper 900 VI remote start unit that features keyless entry and a turbo timer option. Install was a pain in the ass since all the wires don't have much slack, you end up having to widdle away at the wire insulation to get at the internal wires. Then the brake light switch was the biggest problem. On my 91 240 that is blocked from all angles with all that new comptuer stuff in there, so with the dash, vents, and dash frame out replacing the heater core, that switch was finally easy to get to ;)
For the keyless entry I plan on getting the parts from my 80 244. If you are starting from scratch installing keyless entry in a 240, all you need is to get a lock actuator, linkage, and bolts from a drivers side rear passenger door in any year 240 that uses power locks. You need to do this since the drivers door doesn't have any of the power motors in it since you were using the keys to open it... why would they have to waste parts for it. That is probably the easiest part of this whole install.
One part that is unique to this remote start install is that I decided to go through with it even though my car was converted to a m46. I have been wanting the remote start for a long time to warm up my car a bit in the morning so I don't have any piston slap as I drive away. Ever since I have done this swap I always leave the car in N and yank the parking brake up. This has always been a habit for me since I am always horribly afraid of something pushing my car forward or somethign while it is in gear and wrecking the transmission. So the whole remote start only in an auto doesn't need to apply to me that much, I jsut need to be extra careful.
