86 to 93 WINDSHIELD UPGRADE 200

The frame of my 86 sedan is curling at the base of the drivers side and I can't seem to get it to stay down anymore. I've priced the replacement windshield from the 93 with SAFELITE glass company at about $220. They say the windshield comes with the new frame moulding. My question is, I just had the car painted last year and the paint shop masked off to the edge of the rubber gasket of my windshield frame and it was a good mask. Is the width of the new moulding/gasket the same width and what is the chance of the paint peel/chip off when the old gasket is removed. Anyway of preventing this problem if it does exist?
