B6304 Timing Belt CrankShaft Gear Timing Marks S90-V90 1998

O.K., I'm replacing the timing belt on a 1998 S90.

I've got the cam gears and the cam gear cover marked and line up.

I want to make sure I've got this lined up corectly/perfectly before I pull things apart.

As far as crank timing marks go, there is a little vertical line that protrudes from the block, just above the crank gear at about the 11:30 to 12:00 position. The vertical mark is about 0.5 cm in length (just a guess). This is the only mark I can find above the gear, but it is VERY difficult to see in there even with a mirror.

As far as the mark on the crank gear goes......... I have rotated the crank two full revolutions and lined the marks on the cam gear and I am having a very hard time finding the mark on the gear. The best I can see is that there appears to be a VERY, VERY TINY notch at the TOP of one of the crank gear lobes that does line up with the cam marks. But it is so faint and hard to see I won't bet money on it until I get some comments from you folks that have done this before.

Please tell me what you lined up the crank with on your B6304 when you changed out your belt. It shouldn't be this difficult to find clear marks on something so critical.

Thanks,

DEWFPO
