'I'd leave those injector seals alone...' Does replacing FI seals help any? 700 1990

That's what the parts guy at the Volvo dealership told me when I purchased 4 sets of FI seals @ $4.65/set. I am wondering if replacing the seals has ever helped with any of your bricks? I squirted water on all the seals with the engine running and there was no hesitation or anything like that. One reason I was thinking of replacing the seals is because I am interested in checking the spray pattern of each injector to give me an idea of their condition, and I'll want new seals of course when reinstalling.
