Hey all,
I have a 91 silver 740 automatic tranny that has had problems with overdrive not working until its warmed up. Now its not kicking into OD at all. Is it dying? I have 225,000 on the car. Any suggestions on what to do?

You all gave me suggestions that is was the relay, but my girl already took it in to a mechanic who flushed the tranny then promptly said it was the solenoid.
And wants 450 bucks to fix it.
I am skeptical.
Should I buy a relay first and see if that works and then can one assume it is the solenoid if that doesn't work?
How hard is a solenoid replacement. I see fcpgroton has them for 95 bucks, but I could not find step by step help on how to put it in.
