Performance enhancements 120-130

Weber side-drafts are great in their place, but your engine cannot capitalize on their potential. I think they will do nothing but frustrate you -- even with 32mm venturis (I think these are the smallest available for 45DCOEs), your motor will not flow air at a rate sufficient to get good draw from the jets.

A Volvo "C" cam and a set of SU carbs will get you to B18D specs. Raising compression to 10:1 brings it up to a B18B. This can be done fairly economically, and you'll still be dealing with standard motors that are known quantities.
