Transmission Advice 700 1986

I have an '86 740 GLE with the old style ZF automatic transmission.
My brick has just over 160,000 miles on it and until now it's been trouble free in terms of the transmission.

Since the onset of extremely low temperatures in Philadelphia, it seems as if my transmission is starting to act up or stick or something.

Recently(only when really cold and only in the morning on the first start of the day) after starting the car, letting it warm for a minute or two, and putting it into drive to take off, my brick will accelerate fine up to about 25mph and then it seems like it will momentarily get stuck into what would be 2nd gear. When this occurs the engine is louder, the rpms seem to stick at 3000, and my brick momentarily fails to accerlate into the next gear. When this happens I then have to let off the gas, wait for the rpms to go down, and re-accelerate and then it's fine for the rest of the day.

Has anyone experienced anything like this? Any recommendations? Will a flush of the fluid cure this?
Please tell me that my transmission isn't shot, I just put in a new rack and a new starter in this thing, my wife is going to kill me!
