transmission not shifting 200

hello,

i have had my 1981 240 for about 8 months. and yesterday, when i started it and tried to go down the street it would not shift to 2nd, tried to runit and it wouldn't, then after i run the engine to high RPM it did shift and it wouldn't have a problem after that. then it did it again today (every time the car starts cold)

i tried letting the car warm up before i take it out, checked the trans oil. but don't know what could it be or how to make it run again.
