shall I lift the car when replace water pump? 700 1991

I had a 1991 740 non turbo,auto.
I have asked for advice about water pump brands, now it is time to start the job. after reading the FAQ section, I wonder shall I lift the car or park it on a level place. by the way I wonder would it be convenient to change the driving belts(a/c, alternator,...) also?
