1-does the bulb come on when you turn the key on? no-check bulb. yes, check battery voltage with car off. should be 12.5 or higher. yes, start car. no, recharge and load check battery after charging. 2-start car and check voltage at battery again-should be higher. no? turn car off and remove voltage reg from back of alternator and check brush length. also, check the blue ground wire from the alt to the motor mount bracket. they break or get loose. both ok? unplug small wire from alt and turn key on-do not start. voltage at wire should be same as battery. if not, wiring or cluster problem. also, check the harness to the delay relay for the ac comp. i've seen that harness fry from a dying compressor and take the charging system down. good luck, chuck.
