Help diagnose power window problem -- weird sound 700 1986

I posted previously about the power windows in my 1986 740T not working when the temperature was cold. I confess that, since it's been abysmally cold here in NYC, I haven't had a chance to do the basic maintenance stuff, like pop out the driver's side switch and check/clean the contacts, etc.

However, I noticed something last night that I need an opinion on. The driver's side window was stuck half open, and of course the switch wasn't working. After about 15 minutes of driving, I heard a sort of staticky, clicking sound coming from the left hand side of the dash. I tried the switch, and the window rolled up.

I have noticed this noise before, and assumed it was coming from the speaker (I had the radio volume down, but the radio was still powered on, which is often when I hear this noise).

Is there any relationship with this noise and the power windows?

Thanks.

Joe
