Shift Lock Relay 200 1991

I am having trouble with the shift lock on my 91 240 not working. I have looked in Bentley's and it wasn't a lot of help. Can someone tell me where to start to diagnose the problem? I assume from the diagram that it could lie with the relay but I'm not sure. Where is it located? Also, I presume that if my brake lites are functioning normal that there shouldn't be a problem with the brake portion of the circuit. I sure hope it isn't a problem with the solenoid. It looks like a pain to get to. Any help is appreciated. My wife refuses to stick her pinkie in the housing to find the lever to get the car out of park. I'm rather tired of doing that too. Thanks again.
