Engine power and heater questions. 200 1980

I own a 245 -80 equipped with a B21A engine and BW55 automatic transmission.
Some questions:

1. I think it is a bit thirsty. More than 15l/100km on short runs and 11l/100km cruising on the freeway. Is this normal? If not, what could be the cause? Ignition timing is on the mark. Carb tuned (Very little soot in tailpipe and plugs brownish-white).

2. Maybe connected to first question. Engine seems sluggish, and acceleration from 70 km/h to say 90 km/h uphill "takes time" unless using kickdown.

3. The temp gauge rises nicely to the middle, but then drops a bit. The thermostat is new, but when i mounted it I wasn't aware of the necessety of having the little "valve" (used to allow bubbles to pass) pointing upwards. Could it be the reason?

Many thanks y'all!
