Tire Question 444-544

I want to put new "shoes" on my 1957 PV444. The tires on it now are old Sears radials marked 165-15. The tire charts cross that to P165/80R15 or P185/70R15. NOBODY stocks those size tires. Can any of you who have put radial tires on your stock rims tell me what size you have? Any clearance problems? How does the car ride/handle? Are there any stock, steel American car rims that will fit the 444? Someone told me Studebaker had the same bolt pattern. Will any Chevy, Ford, etc. rims fit? Wider rims would mean easier to fit tires. Thanks in advance.
