OK, getting a big hairy snow storm means my wipers should die right? Well mine did. Tonight, after I get back to the garage after stopping every mile to wipe the windshield manually, I figure that I'll replace a fuse and be on my merry way. When I trace the fault I notice I have juice all the way to the motor connection. The linkage is fine. What's the deal? I clean the contacts on the point and cam system and still no wipey! I figure I'm screwed, I'll just keep disassembling until I get past the level of my skills and can justify a new part to my wife.
Well, when I yank the screws holding the motor to the tranny and contacts cam case I can now slip the motor and its case off of the tranny and all of the way apart. That is when I notice the permanent magnet is loose. The inside of the motor case is very rusty and both of the magnets have popped loose from the glue that held them to the case.
What is wild is I still think I might be able to fix this mess. I'm thinking to myself: a little Dremel wire polishing, some POR-15, and a little JB weld and I'll have saved myself $100.63 plus shipping! $65 at FCPGroton.com, but it is a Scantech.
Tonight was just disassembly. Tommorrow I'll get on the actual repair. By Wednesday night, I may have wipers again. I'll come back and let you know how it goes. Wipers are something one misses in the winter.
If anyone else has made this repair a little advice is always welcome.

If it won't fix, what do you all suggest: New at Volvoworld for $100.63, used at Volvoworld for $40, or new at FCPGroton(Scantech) for $65? Or something completely different?
