No start when humid....please help. 200 1983

Hey folks,

...this is starting to drive me crazy now. I have an '83 240...great car...105K miles....starts good when its hot, starts good when its cold.....but, when its humid out as when snow is melting (right now) or when its rainy the car will not start. Its getting plenty of fuel as I can smell it after cranking for a minute or so and I hear the pump(s) running and they sound fine. I haven't checked for spark, but it seems to me that it has to be an ignition problem (i.e. if I'm getting fuel supply its all that's left). The few times that I have been persistent enough to get it started in humid conditions it sputtered some after getting it going (since it was probably flooded a bit) and when driving it would hesitate upon moderate acceleration. After 5-10 miles and warming up to normal operating temp the car ran perfectly fine (no doubt due to the heat and "drying out" of whatever component is faulty). Anyway, I'm thinking that it might be Ignition Control Unit, or Ignition Coil (all the wires and distributor cap and rotor are new by the way). Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Ben Costello
