oscillating iddle when stopped, but in gear???? 900

when i start the car in the morning, i let it run for about 5 minutes, more or less, and when i get into it to go to work, or go where ever, i press the brake to move it out of park, and put it into Reverse. it i keep the car stopped by keeping the brake presses, the iddle starts oscillating between 1000 rpms, and 500 rpms, and it goes qucikly. if i put it back into park, it goes away.

the lumpy iddle also happens when i go into park, for whe i back into a parking spot. when the temp gauge gets past the 1/4 temp mark, all of this goes away, and we're back to normal.

any help appreciated.
