A quick whine (from the car, not the kids) 200 1984

My 240 gives off a quick whine or whirr from the engine right after start-up. I'm pretty sure it's not a belt; it sounds mechanical and I can feel a little vibration through the gearshift. It's not terribly violent. Two seconds and it's over and doesn't come back.

Maybe the starter is staying engaged a second too long? Some accessory's death-rattle?
