Head skimming - how much to take off? 120-130

Hi,

Following on from my post about performance enhancements and from the advice that I received I've decided to go with the twin SUs, D cam and a head skim to increase the compression ratio from the standard B18A 8.7:1. The head height of the B18A head is 88 mm (3.46 inches - more than any B20 head). The people who are to skim the head are offering a choice of 87 mm (B20F spec), 86.2 mm (B20B spec) or 83 mm (lower than B20E spec). 86.2 mm is the spec of the B18B type 2 head which should be the same as the 123GT spec (10:1 compression ratio). Is bring it down to 83 mm going too far given that it'll be running on unleaded fuel or are there any other disadvantages?

Thanks in advance for any advice/opinions,

Aidan
