What's the difference between the S90s and V90s? And other Qs. S90-V90

Hello - I'm a long time owner/poster of 940s. I have a question: My father-in-law has a low mileage S90 ('98?) I may be able to buy.

Just curious - what are the differnces between the S90s and V90s - I have no clue! And was ford making volvos in '98 (in the U.S.)? Or would '98 models be swedish made?

BTW- I am the only mechanic of our 940s - and would think the similar RWD format would be the same (minus the interference engine, nivomats, one-chance cooling system :)
