I would suspect that your Idle Air Control Valve is in need of a good cleaning, and it may also be time to check your air filter. Furthermore, after cleaning the IAC Valve, I would advise you to spray some carb cleaner in the throttle body (clean any varnish from inside it without actually removing it) and take a few minutes to set the idle speed (follow the steps outlined in the Haynes book).

If you're unfamiliar with the IAC Valve, it's the T-shaped air valve dead center on the top of the engine, very close to the firewall and has a pair of 1" tubes entering and exiting it on the right and left sides. There's an electrical plug on the back and this is how the car regulates the incoming air to keep itself from stalling at idle. The valve will have a black sticker on it and the Bosch part number will end with the numbers 520.
