Worthwhile to purchase a 1996 850 sedan, or just get different car altogether?

I am currently in the market for a reliable used car that will be relatively little upkeep and cost, and am considering the purchase of a 1996 850 sedan with 111000 miles. Asking price is $5900, but I feel the price can come down to $5000. Question is, would this be a good purchase if reasonable regular maintenance performed, or would I be better off purchasing a different vehicle altogether (probably a Honda or Toyota). Anyone have any thoughts re: this?

THanks in advance.
