b230 E rear camshaft seal? Coreplug? URGENT OIL LEAK!!! 200 1988

Help!!

My '88 240 GLT with a B230E engine has developed a major oil leak from the back of the cylinder head / camshaft.

From feeling around it seems as though a core plug in the head has blown out (recollect on the way to work hearing a strange noise!!)

The manual talks about a half moon seal but this seems odd as my 'hole' seems round. Can anyone confirm what seal or part I have lost? Assume it may be the famous flame trap that caused this???
