Jetronic 2.4 or 3.1 200

O.K. I'm sure this is a stupid question but here goes.
I just bought a 1989 240DL and the mass air flow meter is missing. My service manual says that this year model could have a Jetronic 2.4 or a 3.1, how do I tell the difference. Is there a plate somewhere that would have this information??

The previous owner "thought" he was a mechanic but instead of looking in a manual he just started replacing parts. He tried for 2 yearts to get it to crank with no luck. I bought it Saturday and was able to get it to crank and run on Sunday by replacing the system fuse. It still has several "issues" that I need to deal with but it looks like it's going to be a great car.

Thanks a bunch,
Tony
