How to fix a broken exhaust pipe in front of muffler 200 1980

My non-turbo's exhaust pipe broke. It completely separated from the front of the rear muffler about 1" from the muffler and 1/2" from the clamp. This must be a common problem, because 2 years ago my Toyota developed a crack in the same place. I don't have a welding machine and want a cheap fix. Any ideas?
