Starts and Idles fine but no power...I mean no power...85 240 DL Wagon 200

Hi...its me again and so far with this forum I have had pretty good luck on average with help; hope this carries forward on this latest problem. Please keep in mind that I am in the middle of nowhere here (ie. no Volvo service people and no electronic test facilities). Where Im at now is the car starts and idles fine but there is no power off of idle...the car just doesnt want to go!! The thing seems to run ok and rev (with a slight miss) if its in neutral but not when I put it in drive and press the go pedal. I recently put in a new fuel pump and replaced the cat converter with a straight pipe to try and fix a problem where the car would hesitate and lack power under load primarily on the highway. The original cat was fine by the way. Other things done recently are a new fuel filter, a new in-tank pre-pump (last year) a replacement ECU (last year) to fix a no start situation, new coil, new cap, rotor, plugs, wires. I pulled the timing belt cover off and checeked that it hadnt jumped...its ok...the crank, camshaft, and distributor are all hitting on TDC just fine. One thing I have noticed is a little wavering about the timing marks when using a timing strobe...Im thinking now that I may have a worn distributor, faulty or failing Hall sensor, or a vacuum leak? Any other suggestions? What about a faulty Air Mass Metre? Please help.
