harness question: where does the black wire under the front go? 700

1985 745t

There is a black, single wire that leads out of the wiring harness by the t-stat housing, goes down the side of the engine past the alt. and ac pump, under the belts on the front, and then disappears somehwere near the water pump. I've tried to eyeball it and figure out where it goes, but have been unsuccessful thus far.

Given that 8-10" of snow fell last night and it's 20 degrees in my "workshop" (read in the snow on the driveway) I'm wondering if someone can tell me what this wire is? o2 sensor? Something else?

thanks,
rt
