Door lock problem 700 1986

I may have an answer: over time, the lock system loses it's lubrication & becomes harder to actuate. I just bought my brick & immediately had the same problem..Only I couldn't open my door at ALL..(this makes the ensueing repair MUCH harder)..You need to get the door panel off. Once done, find the lock system at rear of door & lube that..Also find the actuation system at front of door (under the manual button) and lube it as well..Now: Running between the actuation system & the lock, you'll find a long heavy wire which has probably come adrift from it's nylon clips along the inside of the door. Clip it back into the holders. I went one step farther & used a tie-wrap thru a couple handy holes & around the wire to secure it from coming adrift again..One caveat: do NOT make the tie-wrap too tight, just snug enough to hold the wire, but not snug enough to make too tight. Good luck. Hope this helps
